      Operations Manager

      Company: Pt Operational ServicesLocation: Hatfield, PretoriaReports to: Chief Executive OfficerPurpose: To overall, manage the toll collection operations at the toll plazas on the prescribed routes on the N1 N4 highway. This should be done in accordance with the legal requirements, contractual obligations and in terms of the company’s policies and procedures, in order to ensure a service of the highest quality, integrity and customer relations to the motorists and our client on an uninterrupted basis.

      Qualifications and Skills
      Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills: 
      • Operations Management Higher Diploma (or any related tertiary qualification)
      • Valid Unendorsed Code 08 Drivers License
      • At least 8 years related experience
      • Communicates effectively on all levels
      • Competent financial management skills
      • Good human resources management skills
      • Advanced computer literacy skills
      • Interpersonal relationship skills
      • Highly motivated individual with strong self management skills
      • Strong assertiveness

      • Knowledge of the toll collection process & toll road environment will be advantages
      • Excellent contractual analytical skills
      • The daily physical demands are those required of an office worker, and be able to move around in fairly confined spaces on the toll plaza premises.
      • The Operations Manager will be required to drive frequently on the Bakwena N1N4 project to visit toll plazas and/or other sites.

      Essential Duties & Responsibilities
      The successful candidate’s responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
      • Draw up and obtain approval for all the capital and operational budgets.
      • Ensure proper financial control to maximize the financial returns of the shareholders.
      • Manage the process to ensure that toll plaza stock, property and toll equipment are accounted for at all times.
      • Manage the process to ensure that proper financial control takes place in his/her department in accordance with contractual, legal and company requirements.
      • Timeously manage and oversee the process to determine and forecast traffic volumes and manning levels.
      • Responsible for health, safety and security measures at all plazas.
      • Responsible for proper and timeous administration, recordkeeping, compiling, and presenting of reports and statistics as per requirements of the Board of Directors, BPCC, SANRAL and any other company requirements.
      • Manage the process to ensure that sound relations exist with road users, the client, Independent Engineer and other relevant services and Governmental Departments.
      • Ensure sound relations amongst team members from the operations department, which enables motivated staff through job enrichment, training and development, mentoring and coaching, and proper internal communication.
      • Plan activities and manage overall performance of subordinate staff in terms of company policies, procedures and legal requirements.
      • Plan and perform departmental training as required in conjunction with the HR department.
      • Coordinate and manage special projects of interest as may be required from time to time.
      • Ensure policies and procedures are timeously updated and communicated, as required.
      • Ensure that the ongoing development of the toll collection system includes all the functionality and controls required to maintain a high level of service to the company and the client.
      • Ensure that new and current system functionalities are thoroughly tested by the relevant parties before live implementation.
      • Timeously manage and administer all subcontractors and suppliers to the department and ensure delivery of subcontracted services.
      • When required, check and authorise company payments on the electronic banking system.
      • Act as signatory to cheques when required by the CEO or financial manager.
