Young woman from Tzaneen awarded Lindsey Milne bursary
The South African Subtropical Growers' Association (Subtrop) has awarded the Lindsey Milne bursary to 23-year-old Nasreen Malik of Tzaneen. Malik has just completed her BSc agriculture with honours and intends on obtaining her master's degree in horticulture from the University of Stellenbosch in 2017.
In addition to the tuition fees, the bursary (worth R25,000 annually) also covers accommodation and food costs. The bursary, in honour of Dr Lindsey Milner, aims to facilitate the constant flow of young agricultural graduates to ensure the sustainable future of the sector. One of the bursary requirements is that the recipient must complete a year of employment at Subtrop when they have concluded their education.
