Alitalia returns to SA
Italian airline Alitalia's return to OR Tambo International Airport after 17 years of absence has been welcomed by South African Tourism.
Alitalia will operate on the Rome-to-Johannesburg route four times a week with travellers having the choice of Magnifica business class, premium economy, and economy as travel classes.
South African Tourism believes the new route will aid in its goal of attracting five million more leisure and business travellers to South Africa by 2021. Last year, South Africa saw a 7.6% increase in the number of tourists coming from Europe with over 61,000 of those being from Italy.
