Wholesale trade sales up 0.6% y/y in December

Measured in real terms (constant 2012 prices), wholesale trade sales increased 0.6%% year on year in December 2015, Statistics SA data showed on Thursday.

Wholesale trade sales increased 2% in 2015 compared with 2014.

Seasonally adjusted wholesale trade sales increased 0.2% in December 2015 compared with November 2015. This followed a month-on-month decline of 1.8% in November 2015 and a 0.2% fall in October 2015.

In the fourth quarter of 2015, seasonally adjusted wholesale trade sales were down 0.8% compared with the previous quarter.

Measured in nominal terms (current prices), wholesale trade sales increased by 4.5% in December 2015 compared with December 2014.

Wholesale trade sales increased by 4.6% in the fourth quarter of 2015 compared with the fourth quarter of 2014.
