Absa takes UJ's 2018 missing middle fund to R130m
Absa has donated R8m to the University of Johannesburg's (UJ) 'Missing Middle' fundraising campaign. The campaign is aimed at raising funds for students who are in the 'missing middle' and do not qualify for the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS).
With the Absa donation, it has secured R130m through the collective efforts of the university management, along with the council and the UJ Student Representative Council (UJSRC). As a result, the university was able to assist close to 5,000 'missing middle' students to pay registration and tuition fees for the 2018 academic year.
