The Inter-region Economic Network (IREN) has announced the ninth Eastern Africa Media Training scheduled for 9-12 March 2011. The training will bring together journalists from the region to brainstorm with leaders from China, India and Europe under the theme: 'Is Eastern Africa ready for China, India and Europe?'.

The training comes at a time when political events are unfolding in Africa in a pattern never countenanced before. At the same time, investments from the developed, re-emerging and emerging economies are penetrating deeply into sinuses of the region. To discuss these issues, IREN has invited four keynote speakers, to stimulate discussion on these issues in March. During the session, senior journalists, editors, and communication leaders will have an opportunity to engage the panel in discussions and debates, and also learn how to cover development issues in a changing global economic dispensation.

The training will be held in Nairobi, Kenya and interested applicants should submit a letter of interest and brief bio to moc.aynekneri@htide and moc.aynekneri@stneve by 18 February 2011. Participation is by invitation only. There are limited scholarships covering travel and accommodation are available on competitive basis.
