    Young Achievers Awards draws 13 business journalists

    Thirteen Ugandan business journalists have been nominated for the first Young Achievers Awards that aims to recognise the efforts of excellent and innovative Ugandan citizens.

    The list includes, Muhereza Kyamutetera, editor of CEO Magazine, Jeff Mbanga a business reporter at the Weekly Observer, Dorothy Nakaweesi and Martin Luther Oketch, both business reporters at the Daily Monitor newspaper, Sylvia Jjuuko, and David Mugabe both writers at New Vision newspapers, Irene Biringi (Uganda Broadcasting Corporation TV) and Rosemary Nankabirwa of NTV Uganda among others.

    The journalists will compete for the Young Achievers in Business Journalism award and the Young Achiever of the Year Award. Other categories include; Young Achievers in Arts and Entertainment, Business Solutions, Business and Trade. The awards gala will take place in Kampala on 14 November 2009.

    Awel Uwihanganye, the chief executive officer of Tetea Uganda, who is behind the awards said the overall winner of the awards will take home UGX5 million while winners in each category will win UGX1.5 million.

    The awards is an initiative of Tetea Uganda a public relations firm and the Uganda National Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
