Another round of loadshedding hits the country
Eskom is implementing three days of loadshedding after breakdowns at a number of power stations resulted in a lose of more than 13,000MW off the national grid, while another 1,330MW is out of commission due to routine maintenance.
Stage 2 loadshedding started today at 10am and continue until 10pm on Friday, after breakdowns at the Majuba and Arnot powers stations and the delays in returning units at Arnot and Tutuka power stations to service.
“The emergency generation reserves have been used extensively in the past days to avoid loadshedding during the day. This has resulted in these being depleted, reducing available capacity. It is, therefore, necessary to implement loadshedding continuously until Friday night at 22:00 in order to replenish the emergency reserves,” Eskom said in a statement.
