Countless ways to give back with 5 for Change
5 for Change, an annual black tie charity gala was founded in 2012 by three passionate young professionals to raise awareness about five inspiring social enterprises, finding unique and innovative opportunities of giving back in a fun and rewarding way.
On 31 May 2014, 5 for Change will host over 500 of South Africa's most influential young professionals looking to make a difference in our city at The Lookout, V&A Waterfront.
The night will include welcome drinks, canapés and entertainment by various leading SA bands, including The Kiffness. Guests can look forward to acclaimed SA comedian and top 10 GQ Best Dressed nominee Siv Ngesi taking the stage as MC for the night. Tickets are R400 and will go on sale at the start of May.
This year's five selected social iniatives are:
Earthchild Project; Girls and Football SA; Rockgirl; Milkshed; and Iamsomebody, all founded and run by inspiring women.
"5 for Change was started to highlight up-and-coming and exciting initiatives in the 'for-good' space and to generate connections between the business community and the social initiative sector. The aim is to raise funds and awareness for our chosen beneficiaries, and provide each of them a platform to connect with influential Capetonians," says David Deetlefs, 5 for Change co-founder with Ross McKernan and Adriaan Dippennar.
McKernan adds, "5 for Change will activate the social pulse of young South Africans to make a significant change in their community beyond the limits of their personal sphere."
Dippennar says, "As it evolves and grows, 5 for Change will have an ever-greater impact initially on the Cape Town community, and eventually on other South Africa communities. It will enable an ever growing network of innovative social enterprises and have an ever increasing impact on their communities. In 2014 we look forward to hosting another top-notch party!"
