Mandela Trust launches Facebook campaign

The Nelson Mandela Children's Hospital Trust has launched a public declaration campaign which is aimed at Facebook users worldwide. It encourages them to make a donation to the hospital, and then make a public declaration by clicking on the 'Support Declaration' link on the Nelson Mandela Children's Hospital Trust Facebook Page.

The declaration will be shared with all their Facebook friends, and will state that they have made a donation to the hospital, that they support the project, and that they challenge their friends and families to do the same. Those who make the declaration will have their names listed on sheets of paper which will be placed in the hospital foundations at the time of the ground-breaking.

Living memorial

The Nelson Mandela Children's Hospital will be located near the Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital and Wits Medical School in Parktown, Johannesburg, and will be a living memorial to Nelson Mandela. The hospital will be a dedicated paediatric facility, centre of excellence, and specialist referral hospital catering for children who need long-term care.

"The objective of this Facebook campaign is to encourage our donors to spread the word, not only about Madiba's legacy, but also their support for this project. We want to keep the conversation going and let people know about the various ways that they can get involved and make donations," says Sibongile Mkhabela, CEO of the Nelson Mandela Children's Hospital Trust.

To make the declaration, visit the Nelson Mandela Children's Hospital Facebook page and click on the 'Support Declaration' link, or go straight to the declaration at https://www.facebook.com/nmcht.

To donate, SMS the word GIFT to 40301. Each SMS donation costs R20 (terms, conditions and network administration costs apply). Donations can also be made electronically by visiting www.nelsonmandelachildrenshospital.org.
