Marriott staff spend time with Shongweni children for Mandela Day
Over the past three years, Marriott staff have become friends with the 36 children of the Libalele Foundation's Rock of Hope Crèche in Shongweni Valley. The team of volunteers spent time with the children, who range in age from one to six years, as part of their contribution to Mandela Day initiatives.
"The morning was spent spoiling the children," said Kim Reinhardt, coordinator of the project at Marriott. "We sang songs, danced and then enjoyed a birthday tea with cake, fruit and chocolates. All the children enthusiastically sang happy birthday to Madiba."
"At Marriott we feel it is important for corporates to be involved in the communities in which they operate. Since moving our head office to the Hillcrest area in 2009, Marriott have been actively involved in the Shongweni Valley community," she continued
Over the years the Rock of Hope Crèche has enjoyed several upgrades and the Marriott staff visit on a regular basis.
