Project Build to help Mbasela Primary for Mandela Day
The Project Build Trust and some of KwaZulu-Natal's top businesses will be spending over 10,000 minutes to make a sustainable difference to local schools on Mandela Day.
This year the Project Build Trust has chosen Mbasela Primary School in Inanda as its beneficiary. In addition to painting and renovations on Mandela Day, there will be ongoing infrastructure upgrades to ensure the school's sustainability - all made possible thanks to Project Build's generous donors. To date this non-profit organisation has been involved in the construction of more than 5300 classrooms across KZN.
Renovations and painting in honour of Madiba
Starting at 9am on Mandela Day, the 160 participants will form teams and be assigned to different classrooms at Mbasela Primary School. The Project Build technical team will be on site to co-ordinate all painting and repairs. The participating companies have also kindly donated paints and other materials required for the day's activities.
The morning's proceedings will feature a birthday cake, T-shirts for all participants and a hearty rendition of "Happy Birthday" to Madiba by the Mbasela learners and hard-working teams.
"Project Build sends warm wishes of recovery to our great role model, Madiba. We thank each business and person who has stepped forward to use his birthday to help us in our mission of building schools and communities," said Suzanne Edmunds, Project Build CEO. She said the organisation was proud to have initiated this event and looked forward to seeing it grow in years to come.
Expected attendees include representatives of Sibaya Casino and Entertainment Kingdom, Mutual and Federal, SAB Miller, Old Mutual, FNB, Derivco, Afrisun Community Development Trust, Illovo Sugar, Momentum Health, Gem Clothing, Sizemezele Trust and Headline Leisure.
