Kaspersky scores 100% success rate in independent test
The test involved 26 security solutions from world-renowned vendors. AV-Test's experts focused on how well each product handled a wide range of threats - including Zero-day attacks - as well as their ability to distinguish between legitimate software and malware, or safe and dangerous websites. Kaspersky Lab's product performed outstandingly well in every task. For instance, it blocked all 132 malicious Zero-day attacks unleashed by the organisers - attacks which use breaches in legitimate software that have not been repaired. Kaspersky Internet Security made only three false detections. In comparison, some other participants delivered up to 25 false positives, according to the testing results.
Kaspersky Internet Security 2013 scored top marks in two categories, gaining six out of six for both protection and usability. In the performance category, Kaspersky Lab was awarded 4.5 out of 6, against an industry average of 3.8. The combined total had Kaspersky Lab's product take second place in the testing overall.
Developing our proactive detection methods
"We are paying close attention to developing our proactive detection methods, as these are the best ways to combat unknown threats. These AV-Test results prove that efforts have been successful - our customers are safely protected from unknown malware", said Nikita Shvetsov, deputy CTO (research) of Kaspersky Lab.
Kaspersky Internet Security has repeatedly proved its worth under independent testing: at the end of June AV-Comparatives awarded the solution its highest Advanced+ rating based on the results of a rigorous four-month test. In late May, Dennis Technology Labs praised Kaspersky Internet Security 2013 for its strong performance in urgent threat protection tests.
