East Africa beckons Internet Solutions
Internet Solutions - a subsidiary of the Dimension Data group - has increased its stake in its Kenyan operation from 51% to 80% as it continues to seek opportunities to expand into east Africa.
Business Report says that Internet Solutions initially acquired its stake in iConnect in Kenya and 2005, but following unprecedented growth in the region, decided to increase this shareholding to 80% with an option to acquire the balance of 20%.
A significant increase in bandwidth as a result of the Seacom, EASSy and Teams undersea cables have boosted Internet activity in the east Africa region and according to Loren Bosch, managing director of Internet Solutions Kenya, there is a massive investment being made into fixed-line and wireless infrastructure.
Kenya forms the hub of the company's east Africa operations and will serve various countries including Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi.
