Mohale's unanimous election as BMF president

Shell South Africa's chairman Bonang Mohale has been elected unopposed as the Black Management Forum's (BMF) president.

The BMF's annual general meeting saw Mohale receive a unanimous endorsement from all nine provincial BMF structures‚ indicating a "united" organisation"‚ BMF managing director Nicholas Moweni said.

Koko Khumalo‚ Limpopo BMF chairman‚ was elected deputy president.

Mohale's predecessor was former Cabinet spokesman Jimmy Manyi‚ who had already served the maximum two terms as president.

Former BMF deputy president Tembakazi Mnyaka was seen as Mohale's primary contender‚ but she ultimately bowed out before the election.

Sources within the BMF maintained that she was too close to Manyi and that there was widespread dissatisfaction that his tenure had seen the organisation get too close to the African National Congress.

Mohale's first official duty is to oversee a two-day conference on systemic corruption in South Africa.

Speaking at the start of the conference on Thursday‚ Mohale called for an expansion of the organisation‚ as well as additional pressure on government to outsource services to state owned enterprises and black-owned businesses.
