September sales of Nissan vehicles increase

September 2012 proved to be yet another good month for Nissan in South Africa as the company's positive sales trend continued - reflecting a 1.8% increase on August 2012, despite the fact that the overall domestic market decreased by 2.7% month-on-month.

While the market reflected a year-on-year performance on par with that of September 2011, Nissan's figures resulted in a 15.9% increase over the same period. Market share has now increased to 9.6% overall, overshadowing the 8.4% experienced during the same period in 2011. Year-to-date share shows a 1.6% increase over 2011 as well at 9.6%, while year-on-year growth is now at 30.3%, in a market growing by 8.6%.

LCVs were in high demand

Nissan dealers were yet again kept busy, being responsible for 3 320 units of the total monthly sales - almost 240 units more than in August 2012. Strongest sales were still felt by the LCV contenders, with the NP200 posting 1 380 units and the NP300 Hardbody 1 004 units - a marked increase for the latter.

Tiida, Qashqai and Livina all posted over 300 units each on the passenger side, with Juke showing a major increase at 382 units. With a better model mix and stronger supply going forward, Juke sales are expected to increase even further.

Johan Kleynhans, director of sales, marketing and after-sales at Nissan commented: "Despite the local market taking a slight downward turn in September, Nissan South Africa's positive sales results are proof of the brand's strength in South Africa. Entering the final quarter of 2012 our dealers will be motivated to do even better and we expect further increases."
