Up the Creek in February 2011

From 4 to 6 February, 2011, Up the Creek 2011 will be held at a usually quiet Breede River campsite close to Swellendam. There will be three stages and loads of music and comedy. There are only 2000 tickets available and sales are now open.

Four hundred people can pull in on Thursday, 3 February, for a preview gig at the bar stage and for R100 extra, you can choose the best spot for your tent.

Up the Creek campsite is situated on the banks of the Breede River. There will once again be the main stage, the river stage and the all-night-long Breeder River bar stage, throughout the four days. You can frolic in the river during the day and then move up to main stage as the day progresses. Only one stage will be running at a time, so you won't miss any of the acts on offer.

Confirmed artists

The following bands and artists have been confirmed so far: Boo!, aKing, Jack Parow, Flash Republic, Karen Zoid, Elvis Blue, Dan Patlansky, Piet Botha, Dirty Skirts, No One's Arc, The Rudamentals, Hot Water, Bed on Bricks, Blues Broers, Dave Ferguson, Akkedis, Fox Comet, Captain Stu, Black Cat Bones, and Southern Gypsey Queens with Albert Frost.

There will be food vendors, coffee maestros, more stalls and bars throughout the festival. If you are travelling with kids, they will be supervised and catered for with kiddie-friendly activities at the designated kid's area, including a jumping castle. The festival ground is also kitted out with a medical tent with trained personnel, while lifeguards at the riverside will keep tans in check and, of course, their eyes wide open.

Anything That Floats Competition

Lobster lilos, Indian canoes, floating bars and human tube chains are making a comeback in 2011. Following the debut of the Anything That Floats Competition in 2010, the water of the Breede River will be stirred up once again. Participants are encouraged to think outside of their beach-gear boxes in order to stand a chance to win incredible prizes.

At this stage, categories include anything from the best design and most floatable contraption to the most luxurious device on the Breede River. Keep an eye on the Competitions Page on the website for updates and details of other competitions.
