aKing's two concerts and new album
Whilst compiling a third album, aKing will be playing at the Symphonic Rocks Concert, GrandWest Casino, on 21 August and at the Barnyard Theatre, Bellville, on 31 August, 2010.
With a successful music video launch and a new addition to the band (guitarist Andrew Davenport, who replaces Hunter Kennedy), aKing has gone into hiding to write their third album at their new Cape Town headquarters.
The sound in the new album deviates somewhat from the band's first two albums. The songs are upbeat, with an almost 1980s' rock 'n' roll edge to them, but we're still in the early stages of writing. We're just going to see where it takes us, we don't want anything to be contrived or premeditated. It makes it exciting.
The concerts
In between this creative process, aKing will be playing several shows around the country, one of the highlights being their forthcoming performance as part of the Symphonic Rocks Concert at the Grand West Casino on 21 August.
From there the boys will be heading back to the northern suburbs to play the Barnyard Theatre in Willlowbridge on 31 August, but they're keeping the new tunes securely under wraps. What fans can look forward to is the music video for the song Know Your Bones, taken off their second album, "Against All Odds". The video will portray a more intimate side of the daily life of the band, with drummer Snake taking a break from his drums and moving behind the lens.
