Hilton Schilder at The Rainbow Room

South African jazz pianist Hilton Schilder, who has recently been diagnosed with cancer, will be performing at The Rainbow Room in Mandela Rhodes Place on Saturday, 7 August, 2010, at 8pm.

Having inherited his musical talent from this father, Schilder has been playing music since the age of three. He performed in numerous groups including jazz bands, carnival troupes, disco bands and hip-hop groups, and, as an adult, was the founding member of the Cape jazz group, The Geniuses, alongside Mac Mackenzie, Gerard O'Brien and Ian Herman.

Composer, artist, sculptor, writer and multi-instrumentalist

Schilder is not only a well-known pianist, but is a successful composer, artist, sculptor, writer and multi-instrumentalist. He has been a part of the international and national South African music scene for decades and his music appears on more than 23 albums, apart from six of his own.

Steve Newman, SA acoustic guitarist, and Errol Dyers will be performing with Schilder.

The Rainbow Room is located in The Rainbow Experience in Mandela Rhodes Place, Church Street, Cape Town. Tickets cost R50 per person and can be booked through www.webtickets.co.za. For more information contact Sarah on +27 (0)72 875 9723.
