LIVE@VERGENOEGD Summer Concerts

Vergenoegd Wine Estate in Stellenbosch has launched its first summer music concert series called Live@Vergenoegd.
LIVE@VERGENOEGD Summer Concerts

To be held every first Sunday of the month over the summer, Live@Vergenoegd will feature some of South Africa’s best musicians including Goodluck, Ard Matthews (of Just Jinjer), Monark, Jimmy Nevis, and Arno Carstens.

Much like First Thursdays has taken over Cape Town, Live@Vergenoegd will make “First Sundays” the new thing for music lovers who want to get out of the city to enjoy a day with friends, family, delicious wine, bubbly and food – and of course great music – all set on the estate’s idyllic green lawns.

Vergenoegd is ideally situated between Cape Town, Stellenbosch and Somerset West, just off the N2. In just 30 minutes you can be parked, camped out on the grass, with a glass of Runner Duck - white or red - in hand, ready for the concert to start. Small fold-up chairs and umbrellas are allowed in the designated area.

Lineup

Sunday 6 November 2016: Goodluck
Sunday 4 December 2016: Ard Matthews from Just Jinjer
Sunday 8 January 2017: Monark
Sunday 5 February 2017: Jimmy Nevis
Sunday 5 March 2017: Arno Carstens

Goodluck are known for their incredible and energetic live performances and their music is an irresistible blend of electronica, pop and subtle influences of jazz. The trio have toured Africa, Europe and the UK with their unique sound.

As the front man of South African band, Just Jinjer, Ard Matthews has become sought-after as a solo artist with the release of his debut solo album in the winter of 2012 to critical acclaim.

Performing as a four-piece band, Monark deliver something completely fresh and unique. The band is setting trends and stirring up tastes in the South African music landscape.

Jimmy Nevis offers an alternative pop sound live on stage. This young musician’s hits include singles ‘Heartboxing’, ‘Balloon’, and ‘7764’.

Platinum selling, award winning, singer-songwriter Arno Carstens needs little introduction. Over his 20-year career, he has released 12 albums; five as lead singer of Springbok Nude Girls, one as part of electronica project Bhelltower and six as a solo artist.
