Be intrigued and enthralled by Introdans

The Dutch Introdans dance company is back in town for the fourth time. This time round the Introdans Ensemble for Youth is performing with a show titled Celebrations at the Baxter till the 5 April. Introdans is ballet like you have never seen before more performance art than anything else. The very talented dancers combine sharp precise choreography with colourful interesting costumes and edgy music to create imaginative and innovative dance pieces.
Be intrigued and enthralled by Introdans

There is something almost unsettling about the Introdans production of Celebrations what with the severe movements of the dancers against the sometimes eerie music. These dramatic pieces however are in dispersed with more humorous dances including the “Sticky Piece” which is a dance between a couple who every time they touch become stuck together and are forced to try and rip themselves apart. “Bits and Pieces” seems to be a dance about a dance instructor and his group of learners, he controls their movements with a remote till they steal this from him and give him a taste of his own medicine. “Promenade” is a truly kooky performance with movements seemingly inspired by the canine species and canines with fleas what's more.

But for me the best dance piece belonged to Courtney Gibbs, Glenn Graham, Joan Sol Madrid Riola and Jamy Schinkelshoek who performed the “Pas de Danse” The opening sequence featuring just one of the male dancers was truly riveting, the combination of movement and music incredibly moving and evocative.

Celebrations is a truly unique dance experience, don't miss this opportunity to catch world class modern ballet that is guaranteed to captivate and enthral you.

Celebrations takes place at the Baxter Theatre for four days only, from 2 to 5 April, followed by a short season at the Klein Karoo National Arts Festival on 8, 9 and 10 April. Tickets for the Baxter season cost from R75 to R120 via Computicket. For more info about the company's KKNK performances please visit www.kknk.co.za.
