East Point's Entrance 1 reopened
The new entry point will provide shoppers with improved access and ease of use around the centre. The hoardings and construction work around Entrance 1 have been removed and the many new parking bays and entrance points will greatly ease traffic congestion.
"We have definitely reached a significant milestone in our renovations as Entrance 1 opens and we move forward to what will become a local landmark on the East Rand and in Gauteng as our eye-catching pylon continues to take shape," said Marietjie Pienaar, East Point Centre Manager.
In addition to the opening of Entrance 1, Nike's new shop has opened for trading and Evolution Vape, an e-cigarette and e-liquid vaping product, has taken up permanent residence in one of the three external kiosks. These are positioned right at the entrance of the centre. Shoppers will also be able to access Idelic Fruit & Nut through Entrance 1 while the new Bidvest Bank will open towards the end of August.
"Other exciting news is that Pick n Pay is now offering a new bakery and fruit and vegetables area, which we know will be a huge hit with our shoppers," she said.
New parking bays
The other main changes that will improve traffic and parking in and around East Point is the nearly complete entrance and exit on North Rand Road and abundant new parking bays around Entrance 1. Shoppers will have unrestricted access and flow all the way from the already completed Rietfontien Road entrance and exit, past Entrance 1, through to North Rand Road entrance and exit.
Other elements of the revamp continue to progress.
"As East Point takes shape around Entrance 1 and in keeping with our policy of making sure our shoppers are informed of forthcoming changes, Entrance 2 (next to Parrots) will soon be hoarded off, but a temporary entrance will be opened allowing easy access to the eastern part of the shopping centre," said Pienaar. "We will also be starting construction work on the entrance and exit at Game, but this will not have any great impact on our shoppers.
"We realise that the construction work and earthworks in and around the parking areas have caused some confusion, but with Entrance 1 now fully operational, and with the new directional signage and the additional parking bays, this confusion has been eliminated.
"We would like to thank our shoppers for their continued patience as we continue working towards bringing a superior shopping experience for our customers," she concluded.
