Cape Quarter, a creative masterpiece

Glitz and glam was the essence of the opening of the new Cape Quarters with a guest list topping the who's who in the Cape Town high society. Already probably the most popular hot spot in Cape Town, the developers did justice to this magnificent development combining the old Cape Malay style of De Waterkant with modern upmarket architecture, integrating it into such a creative masterpiece.
Cape Quarter, a creative masterpiece

This development has most definitely taken the “mall” concept to another level - where quality and style creates the ultimate Entrepreneurial Retail Village.

What made the evening unique was the fact that the developers wanted to emphasise that the two Cape Quarters developments should still be seen as one entity, although they are on opposite sides of the road. Registration and pre-drinks for guests thus took place in the “old” original Cape Quarters with Joanne Strauss from Top Billing doing the initial introduction and guests being entertained for the first hour by the Coda - setting the atmosphere of magic under the beautiful fairy lit tree set in middle of the Old Cape Quarter Piazza.

An hour later guests were ushered towards the festivities in the new Piazza where trapeze artists wooed guests with their most creative and artistic moves. This was followed by the most original idea for a fashion extravaganza whereby models dressed in creations specially designed to portray the business theme of each tenant of the two Quarters. Each model introduced by plasma TV with the tenants logo followed by them glamorously strolling down a spiral staircase onto the ramp which was set in an atmosphere equalled by the style of the new Piazza and its environment. Each models' creation was designed by students and made from recycled material to befit the theme of each tenants business. Unique!

This architectural masterpiece now also houses the head office of Deloitte & Touché which adds a flair of putting this area into a different business hub of its own. The developers have done Cape Town proud and with this development added to Cape Town's architectural creativity and it is fast becoming the “thinking city” as put by the chairman of Investec during his inauguration speech.

Indeed an inauguration which will long be remembered and a development which will take us into the next millennium!
