New Rezidor hotel in Nairobi
The Rezidor Hotel Group has announced the addition of the Park Inn by Radisson, Nairobi, Kenya, to its portfolio of hotels in East Africa.
The Park Inn Nairobi Westlands is Rezidor's first Park Inn by Radisson in Kenya and also the first in East Africa. It will be located in Woodvale Grove in the popular commercial and economic Westlands area of Nairobi, five kilometres north-west of the city centre. The local headquarters of the United Nations and several international businesses are nearby. Nairobi, Kenya's capital, is a thriving modern city with three million inhabitants and the commercial centre of East Africa.
The new hotel, due to open in Q4 of 2013, will offer 126 rooms, an RBG grill restaurant, a bar and lobby lounge, two meeting rooms and two boardrooms, a business centre, a gym, and a rooftop swimming pool and terrace.
Nairobi the centre
"East Africa is a very suitable development region for Park Inn by Radisson with Nairobi as a centre. We will target cities and larger towns that fall within a two hours' flying time north, south, east and west of Nairobi, and develop a regional business and leisure circuit," said Andrew McLachlan, Rezidor's Cape Town-based vice-president for business development for Africa and the Indian Ocean islands.
The Park In by Radisson in Nairobi is the fifth new hotel deal Rezidor has concluded in sub-Saharan Africa during the first four months of 2011. The other four new hotel deals include a Radisson Blu in Accra, Ghana and Freetown, Sierra Leone and Park Inn by Radisson's in Lagos Apapa, Nigeria and Polokwane, South Africa.
In addition to new deals Rezidor aims to open eight hotels across the continent, including Radisson Blu properties in Nigeria, South Africa, Mozambique, Zambia, Sierra Leone and Ethiopia and Park Inn by Radissons in South Africa and Mozambique.
