The inaugural Feather Festival will be held at 1 Fox in downtown Johannesburg on 18 and 19 October 2019. The festival was announced in the lead up to the annual Feather Awards.
This two-day festival will showcase fashion, food and music. The festival will also offer a market on both days – selling a delectable selection of food and drinks, art pieces, Feathers merchandise and other fashion items.
A queer exhibition will also be staged at the Feathers Festival.
Declared Jozi Vogue night, Friday evening will host a fashion show showcasing one of SA’s hottest young designers, Ora, with her collab range Dare To Be Queer by Thami X Ora followed by a live performance by the Mzansi Gay Choir and an eight-category Vogue contest.
The festival’s main concert will take place on Saturday with headlining outfits including living legends Boomshaka, the ever-fabulous Kelly Khumalo, SA royalty KB, the first lady Tamara Dey and the people’s favourite Busiswa.
Also confirmed to headline is soulful singer Wanda Baloyi, Amstel and the infamous Madame Gigi. Young talent confirmed includes Langa Mavuso, Buhlebendalo and Mr Allofit will also join the lineup. DJ Olwe and friends on the decks until the festival closes.
