MCQP 2015 announces theme
Gingerbreadman director, Ian McMahon, said that the team is ready to "lay the icing on thick" for this very special occasion. "This year, we wanted to go back to memories from our youth, with bright colours, sweets, chocolates and all things sweet - all things nice as we whisk you away to a fantasy land of sugar delights. Expect Turkish Delight, suckers, ice lollies and your fair share of sweetie pies at the event," he said. "I'm sure you're set to see some real eye candy."
Visitors can expect a night of bliss, with candy cane décor and bright decadent costumes. With eight music areas laid out across the space including Assembly, Dragon Room and other venues in the street - each with its own theme and music style. With the Table Mountain as the backdrop, party-goers can get dipped in the delights of 110 local and international DJs, artists and performers.
Lilly Slapped Silly
The theme was recently announced to a jam-packed crowd at MCQP's Halloween costume event outside Crew Bar. Performer Lilly Slapped Silly launched the theme at pumpkin hour. Lilly, who will be one of the MCs and will have her candy cane at hand in December doesn't need any introduction to Cape Town having been part of the infamous Mince duo for many years.
She'll be joined by several acts like Dean Fuel, Jamie Saint, DJ Chadd, VJ Karl, DJ Cambis coming out from Germany for MCQP, as well as Stuart Hillary of Jozi's historic Therapy club fame. Cape Town's 80s guru Sam Roy, the local duo Legendairy and many more artists, singers and performers will take the stage in what has become an iconic Cape Town event. The gates open at 5pm, and there will be food offerings, stalls and many more cherries on the top. Party-goers will also be spoilt with choice when it comes to quenching their thirst and satisfying their hunger, before taking to the live bandstand stage, Disco, EDM, House, Cabaret, Trance, Diskotekah, Crew's Commercial floor and Ladies only dance floors.
About 9000 party-goers are expected to attend. Tickets can be purchased from the website and start from R350 for an early-bird special. Although no VIPs this year - there are 300 limited 'Quality Street' tickets where there is an open bar all night (plus more entitlements fit for a king) for your pleasure as well as 12 Royal Sweets where the sugar teams get their own space for the entire grand performance. Each box holds 20 people.
