Adidas adds freestylers to sponsor list
Sayed is the JHB- based 18 year old freestyler who is best known for his lower and upper body combos.
Kamalio does mostly lower body combos and ground dribbling moves and Khris'
focus is his fancy footwork and the signature ball balancing maneuver that has him balancing both feet on a ball and doing a neck stall at the same time while taking off his shirt.
The sponsorship deal is for 2009 and 2010 and includes apparel sponsorship as well as the stars entertaining crowds at certain adidas events.
"We are extremely pleased with these two signings and look forward to having them represent the brand in a fresh and unique way," says Adrian de Souza, Sports Marketing Manager for adidas.
The two athletes have treavelled the world extensively. The Cape Town-based Chris recently went to Sao Paulo, Brazil for the Red Bull Streetstyle International Final. "I have always identified with the brand values of adidas and their mantra of impossible is nothing even before I signed with them," says Njokwana.
Njokwana and Kamalio will be heavily involved in the lead upto the FIFA Confederations Cup and they will get an opportunity to mingle with adidas sponsored players from around the world when they shoot adverts.
Among the players they are set work with is Bafana Bafana and Everton midfield star -Steven Pienaar. "It's always a pleasure to join the world of real football stars because we are all in the business of entertaining people through football," says Kamalio.
