Dearest darling Rocking the Daisies
Ruth Cooper 14 Oct 2011
alt-J have been blowing up on British charts with their debut album 'An Awesome Wave', playing sold-out shows across Europe and the U.S. alt-J, who is set to play this Friday at internationally acclaimed Coachella Festival in the States, pride their poignant folk verses, crushing synths and tight vocal harmonies as genre-defying. An incredible slice of brilliance, you only have to check out their live performances to realise how talented the quirky quartet is. Their songs like 'Something Good' and 'Matilda' are loaded with melodic choruses that soon become full-blown earworms that you can't get out of your head. The band's rapid rise to fame happened with little to no record label promotion - A true testimony to the power of quality music and word of mouth.
They were the winner of The Mercury Prize for the Best British album of the last year, and were also nominated for Best British Group, Best British Album and British Breakthrough at The Brit Awards this year. And now off the back of their stratospheric rise, following sets at Coachella, Glastonbury, Reading and Lollapalooza music festivals to name a few, alt-J are headed for Rocking the Daisies.
Rocking the Daisies needs little introduction. Since it began eight years ago it has gone on to become the Western Cape's most iconic outdoor music event, and South Africa's premier eco-friendly music and lifestyle festival. Having sold-out last year at 15 000 strong, with headliners Bloc Party, it has grown to become a force to be reckoned with within the local music scene. But it isn't stopping there. Rocking the Daisies aims to be even better this year making sure that the 15 000 fans descending on Darling experience the most epic, mind-blowing, life-altering festival you could expect on South African soil.
With expanded festival arenas, increased amenities and infrastructure, top local talent and a host of internationals slated for this year's event, you do not want to miss out on this one!
