It aims to raise funds for The Volunteer Wildfire Service, which is on the frontline of the battle, currently fighting 15 fires across the Western Cape.
Public, private and corporate citizens rose to the call made by the radio stations and, within four hours, over R1 million had been pledged. By 5.30pm, the tally was over R2 million.
KFM and CapeTalk station manager, Colleen Louw says, "We are proud of the remarkable efforts of the firefighting organisations and our listeners who have been so willing to assist in any way possible. As stations close to our communities, we are touched by the way that Capetonians have come together at this very challenging time."
