New Media lead Mondi finalist pack

Thirteen journalists from New Media's magazines have been nominated as finalists in the 15th Annual Mondi Paper Magazine Awards - more nominations than any other publishing house in the country.

With eight finalists, Afrikaans lifestyle magazine INSIG is streets ahead of its sister publications VISI, Woolworths TASTE, Weg and PEZULA.

"This is the best we have ever fared in the nominations and it is a privilege to be nominated to receive one of South Africa's prestigious magazine journalism awards, let alone 14!" says New Media's managing director Bridget McCarney.

Although they are individual nominations, McCarney stresses that teamwork is the key to the company's success and that the whole company worked hard at putting the entries together.

At the 2004 Mondi Awards, two journalists from New Media, Kirby van der Merwe and Tina Marie-Malherbe scooped the coveted Features and At Home categories for INSIG and VISI respectively.

Winners for the 2005 awards ceremony will be announced at The Castle in Kyalami on Wednesday 18 May 2005.
