Symantec Corp appoints Huw Owen

Symantec Corp has announced the appointment of Huw Owen as vice president of sales and marketing operations for Europe, Middle East and Africa. Owen will be running the EMEA operations function and supporting the continued drive to improve efficiency and deliver results.

I look forward to leveraging my industry experience, combined with my background having previously worked at Symantec, to execute our multi-year strategy, implement our critical go-to-market changes and continue the progress on our successful transformation," said Owen. "I am excited to be back at Symantec as I see the opportunity is huge ."

He brings to the role strong leadership skills, deep industry expertise and more than 12 years of sales, marketing and operational experience with global companies in the technology and services industry.

For the past two years, Owen has been named by Global Telecoms Business in the "Top 40 under 40" in the telecoms industry worldwide. Owen has been regularly quoted in the media as an expert on the fast-growing mobility market. His appointment accelerates Symantec's efforts to win, grow and retain customers in every market segment around the region.

Before joining Symantec, Owen was vice president and general manager EMEA at Good Technology, where he scaled the Good Channel Business exponentially, as well as taking the company into new territories including the Nordics, Benelux and the Middle East. He developed his channel experience when he orchestrated an aggressive growth strategy for Good Technology as vice president channel sales EMEA.

Prior to this, Owen was executive director at Lenovo, where he was responsible for services sales and marketing in EMEA, spanning global accounts through to consumer business. He was a member of the EMEA operational team and had full P&L responsibility for services. He has also held senior positions at VERITAS and Fujitsu, as well as serving as senior director of EMEA northern region services at Symantec.
