SA labour relations... at a glance
South Africa is widely considered to have one of the most sophisticated labour relations acts in the world. It's impressive, and the envy of many countries and something of which we should be very proud.

On paper it is very advanced. It allows for trade unions, bargaining, it allows for the right to strike and the right of employers to lock out. It is designed for a country where democracy is developed and where employees and employers can exercise these rights freely.
So why was 2012 such a terrible year for labour relations in South Africa?
The infographic below conveniently summarises the latest data from the World Economic Forum, StatsSA and Global Entrepreneurship Monitor.
