Petrol price rises to R11.23/litre

The price for all grades of petrol is set to increase by 28c, the Energy Department said on Friday, 2 March 2012. This will make a litre of petrol go up to R11.23 in Gauteng and R10.93 in the coast.

The increases come into effect Wednesday, 7 March 2012.

The cost of diesel will go up by 10c/litre.

The wholesale price of illuminating paraffin is set to go up by 4c/litre and a litre of illuminating paraffin (SMNRP) is set to increase by 5c.

There will also be a 36c/kg increase in the maximum retail price for LPG.

"During the period under review, the average international product prices of petrol, diesel and illuminating paraffin increased," said the Energy Department.

In February, the petrol price rose by 34c/litre.
