Marius Louw, MD of Du Toitskloof Wines, said the bank's involvement would lend further stature to the competition. "Like us, it believes the important contribution wine writers make to the industry should be recognised and rewarded. We have structured the competition to provide wine writers with the opportunity to submit thoroughly researched articles based on a different topic every year. In this way, we hope they will be encouraged to provide fresh insights into the South African wine industry.
The competition is open to published wine writers who have to submit an in-depth article on the topic "The consequences of climate change for the South African wine industry," by 27 September 2013. There is a single prize of R30,000 for the winning entry. The auditing firm PwC will oversee every stage of the competition.
