Ambor awarded Business Personality of the Year

Spur Corporation founder and executive chairman, Allen Ambor.

The award is in recognition of his entrepreneurial success in starting the Spur brand from scratch over four decades ago and coincides with the group's forty-second birthday and the opening of its first restaurant in Scotland.

The Spur Corporation has 312 outlets in South Africa and plans to open 13 new franchised restaurants over the next three months at various locations including Gugulethu, Amanzimtoti and further afield in Perth and Dubai. It has been a successful year for the group, having won Best Steakhouse (franchise), Best Dinner on a budget, Best Children's Menu and Best Kids' Party (indoors) categories at the 2009 Best of Johannesburg Readers' Choice Awards. It also achieved pole position in the Top Retail Awards' Fast Food Burger and Family Sit Down Restaurant categories.
