Ububele Holdings lists on AltX

Ububele Holdings, the South African agro-processing and agrichemicals company, listed on AltX on Monday morning, with a market capitalisation of between R174 million and R262 million.

Ububele, formerly Milkworx, has a business model which is best described as that of beneficiation.

Agricultural compounds are supplied to the farmer to protect and in so doing, maximise crops.

Once harvested, fruit and vegetables are returned to Ububele by the farmer for beneficiation and export.

Speaking at the listing Ububele CEO Theo Kleinhans said the main objective for listing has always been part of a broader strategy to inject fresh capital into the company and strengthen its shareholder base and spread.

"By doing so we intend to create a platform to make sure we're in the right position to capitalise on developments when the market turns."

Commenting on the listing, Noah Greenhill, Senior General Manager, Marketing and Business Development, JSE, said it is particularly exciting that Ububele will feature in the agricultural sector and grow the number of clients the JSE currently has in this area.

The Ububele business model has delivered considerable value for shareholders in the past.

"Post listing this will be no different. We will continue to operate on the value adding sides of the beneficiation process, steering clear of the mass food market and the production of staple foods.

"In so doing, we believe that we are uniquely positioned to capitalise on the opportunities presented to us as the world's agricultural sectors are poised for tremendous future growth with emphasis placed on the likes of food security, poverty alleviation and job creation.

"This competitive advantage we believe will contribute towards entrenching the Ububele business as a solid investment opportunity in coming years." concluded Kleinhans.

Ububele was founded in 2002 and does business in South Africa, Namibia, Mozambique, the Far East and Europe.

The company owns a number of strategic businesses within the agricultural and food processing sectors supplying amongst others, pre-cut fruit and vegetables, juice concentrates and in-flight catering.
