Retail awards for Western Cape

The South African Council of Shopping Centres (SACSC) Special Star Regional Awards 2009 took place on Thursday 29 October 2009 in Cape Town for the Western Cape region. In a first for the South African retail industry, this event combined the announcement of the regional winners as well as the category winners of the Footprint Marketing Awards.

The Special Star awards honour those retailers and service providers who have consistently delivered exceptional levels of customer service and retail experiences. Retailers are judged on their customer service, store design, store merchandise, signage, window displays, stock availability, appearance of staff, shopping experience and extra available services. Service providers are judged on customer service, professional image, knowledge of shopping centre, management support, staff training, tenant service and social responsibility.

The annual SACSC Footprint Marketing Awards recognise exceptional shopping centre marketing, innovation and creative achievements, together with economic success, within the South African property industry.

Footprint Marketing Awards

Marketing Concepts scooped up both of the Gold Footprint Marketing Awards for 2009. It received one award for Canal Walk's “Cape Town's Got Talent” event in the Sales, Promotions and Events category and a second gold award was for “Boulevard Shopping” at Canal Walk in the Grand Opening, Expansion and Renovation category.
