Greg Solomon has been appointed as the new MD of McDonald's South Africa. Solomon's promotion, effective 1 January 2009, is a significant milestone for the company as he will be the first South African to run the local operation since the business opened here in 1995.
Having been with McDonald's for 12 years, Solomon has held a number of senior positions in the business since joining the company in 1996 as a project manager in the construction department.
He has functioned as executive director for the past three years, with his role undertaking the holistic management of business where he was responsible for Strategy, Operations, Franchising, Restaurant Execution and Development.
He holds a BTech degree in Civil Engineering as well as a Business Administration Diploma.
Solomon takes over the reins from Darren Hall, who will be returning to the USA to pursue his next challenge with the company.

I love McDonalds but........
Congratulations on this very important appointment. At least now we have a Senior body in the country who can tackle the poor service received from branches such as Southgate, Ormonde, Rosettenvile (to name a few) as well as ensure that the eating and serving areas are clean and presentable. The level of customer service (training) is also another issue. Looking forward to significant changes as McDonalds is a great brand.
