Telecom Namibia donates to flood victims
Telecom Namibia has donated more than US$5,500 to flood victims in the north of the country. In addition to financial donation, the company also gave seven Switch handsets with N$750 worth of airtime each, for use by those co-ordinating the relief efforts.
The financial assistance has been channeled through the National Disaster Relief Fund under the oversight of the Office of the Namibia's Deputy Prime Minister, Dr Libertine Amathila. The agency has been co-ordinating the distribution of relief supplies to victims since floods hit the country in early March.
The disaster has resulted in the deaths of at least 92 people, caused massive damage to land and property, and displaced thousands of people.
