Revolutions and metamorphisms

This year, mobile wallets are set to spearhead online payments across Africa. NFC World reports that Tencent launched WeChat mobile wallet in South Africa just a few weeks ago, and we already have reports on Nedbank's digital payment solution, as well as the PayU e-commerce wallet. Moreover, VentureBeat has confirmed that the BlackBerry BBM mobile wallet is active in Nigeria.

With over 60% of Nigerians now using the internet, mobile in particular is becoming the preferred online platform for convenient sales, transactions and marketing. Jovago.com lists four considerations before venturing into e-commerce in the local marketplace.

Last month, Botswana-based retailer Choppies confirmed its application to acquire 21 Jwayelani stores in KwaZulu-Natal and the Eastern Cape.

Naseem Javed, corporate philosopher and founder of the Image Supremacy Movement, comments on the 'economical metamorphisms' or major disruptions taking place during the build-up to 2020, zoning in on the beneficiaries, enemies and adjustments of each.

Happy 2016!
