Turkish Airlines has finalised an agreement with Boeing for up to 150 737 Max aircraft, marking the airline’s largest-ever Boeing single-aisle aircraft order and supporting its plans to expand its fleet and short- and medium-haul network.

The agreement, which has been under discussion since 2025, comprises 100 firm Boeing 737-8 aircraft, with options for a further 50 737 Max aircraft. Turkish Airlines will also have substitution rights for the Boeing 737-10, the largest aircraft in the 737 Max family.
The flexibility is intended to allow the airline to align aircraft capacity with passenger demand as it expands its Istanbul-based network across domestic and international markets.
The agreement was finalised in the presence of the President of the Republic of Türkiye, Tayyip Erdoğan.
Supporting network growth
For Turkish Airlines, the order forms part of its broader fleet expansion strategy, with the new aircraft expected to strengthen operations on high-demand short- and medium-haul routes.
The Boeing 737-8 offers range and payload flexibility, while Boeing says the aircraft provides up to 20% lower fuel consumption and emissions compared with the aircraft it replaces.
These efficiencies are expected to support Turkish Airlines as it grows capacity while managing operating costs and environmental considerations.
“This agreement marks another significant step in the continued expansion of our fleet,” said Professor Murat Şeker, chairman of the board and executive committee of Turkish Airlines.
“The new Boeing 737 Max aircraft will bring greater efficiency and flexibility to our operations, supporting the extensive network we serve from our hub in Istanbul.”
Şeker added that the agreement builds on the airline’s longstanding relationship with Boeing and supports Türkiye’s wider aviation ecosystem.

Expanding a long-standing Boeing partnership
Turkish Airlines, including AJet, currently operates more than 200 Boeing aircraft across its fleet, including the 737 Max, 737 Next-Generation, 787 Dreamliner, 777 and 777 Freighter.
The latest agreement follows the airline’s order for 75 Boeing 787 Dreamliners in 2025, further expanding its relationship with the US aircraft manufacturer across both single-aisle and widebody aircraft.

The latest agreement also sits alongside a broader industrial cooperation framework between Boeing and Turkish Airlines.
Earlier this year, the companies signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding on Industrial Participation, establishing a framework for long-term cooperation around three areas: skill development, value creation and business awards.
The framework is intended to support capability development, technology and know-how transfer, human skills development and sustainability initiatives, while creating opportunities for additional business and industrial cooperation.
For Boeing and Turkish Airlines, the partnership therefore extends beyond aircraft deliveries, with the companies positioning the relationship as part of the development of Türkiye’s wider aviation and aerospace capabilities.
