ChatGPT Ads in South Africa: How Criteo helps brands reach shoppers

Following a standout year in which transaction activity surpassed the previous two years, the Riebeek Valley village is attracting buyers drawn to its scenic setting, wine and olive estates and relaxed country lifestyle. Just an hour from Cape Town, it has also become a tourism, events and semigration hotspot. Now, a rare 10,704m² estate priced at R19.5m adds another dimension to its luxury property market.
Niel Brand, property professional with Seeff Riebeek Valley says it has seen significant renovations, upgrades, and new builds, all adding to the prestige of owning property in Riebeek Kasteel.
"The resulting demand has boosted property values which are now slightly higher than those in other villages in the area," he says.
Deeds Office data shows total transactions for last year exceeded the prior two years and were just below the market highs of 2021/2022. The average transaction price now sits at around R3.143m.
Most sales are over R1.5m with 24% over R5m, including premium sales over R10m, he adds. The median price for freehold property is around R3.675m, and for sectional titles, R2.6m.
Buyers tend to be predominantly over 50 years old, representing 62% of the market, while younger buyers account for 38%. The town attracts artists, entrepreneurs, retirees as well as families.
It occupies a particularly scenic location in the fertile Riebeek Valley, framed by the Kasteelberg Mountains and surrounded by acclaimed wineries such as Kloovenburg, Meerhof and Allesverloren, among others. It boasts great weather, and a creative energy, offering one of the best country lifestyles in the country.
The bustling town is popular as a destination wedding venue and for other events. Many famous artists live here. There are art studios, antique stores, guest houses, and the famous Royal Hotel (the oldest licensed hotel in the Cape). It is known for its wine and olive tastings, and a number of festivals. The Village Market within Riebeek West also draws crowds of weekenders and day-trippers.

Property market data indicates that Riebeek Kasteel is a sound property investment, says Brand. He points to a rare 10,704m² estate, priced at R19.5m, which has just come onto the market. The property features expansive lawns, mature trees, landscaped gardens and secure boundaries, as well as residential and guest villas and studios offering a total of 12 bedrooms.
He says that while the existing accommodation and infrastructure make the estate immediately compelling, its ultimate appeal lies in its versatility.
Subject to relevant municipal approvals, the property offers considerable future potential as a prestigious multi-generational family compound, boutique guesthouse or hotel, wellness retreat, event venue or residential subdivision. Its existing infrastructure provides a foundation that would be exceptionally difficult to replicate elsewhere in the valley.
It is close to the centre of the village. Additional infrastructure includes garages, private braai and outdoor entertainment areas, a large swimming pool, and a comprehensive security system.
At the heart of the estate is a lush botanical garden and a beautiful lake with a large entertainment deck on a small island. Boreholes provide water for the gardens. Multiple security measures provide enhanced privacy, with virtually no visibility into the estate from outside.
