The pen is mightier than the sword, which is why Carrol Boyes has partnered with the Cancer Association of South Africa (Cansa) to create a Pink Legacy Pen for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

click to enlargeEvery October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month brings renewed attention to the impact of breast cancer and the importance of awareness, prevention, and early detection.
According to Icon Oncology, breast cancer accounts for 22.6% of all female cancers and 16% of cancer deaths in women in South Africa.
Cansa states that breast cancer is the most common cancer affecting South African women (all population groups combined), with a lifetime risk of 1 in 28 per the National Cancer Registry 2024.
The pen is a special edition of the Carrol Boyes Legacy Collection, available in ballpoint, rollerball, and fountain pen formats; it features a pink body and a signature sculptural Woman motif.
As she has throughout Carrol Boyes’ work, the Woman represents resilience, elegance, and enduring femininity.
Beyond the pen
The collaboration extends beyond the limited-edition pen.
On 21 October, Carrol Boyes will back Cansa’s annual High Tea, honouring life, survivorship and caregiving.
The occasion continues a cause that was deeply meaningful to Carrol Boyes herself.
As a breast cancer awareness advocate, Boyes encouraged people to recognise the role they can play in educating and supporting those around them.
Boyes’ commitment to the cause also continues through her artwork.
Her sketch, titled Strength, celebrates resilience through the expressive female form.
Depicting a figure enveloped in pink, the artwork captures an unmistakable sense of feminine confidence and inner strength.
The Strength Collection reminds us of the resilience of the women at the heart of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the brand says.
