ASI buys majority stake in Conekt to expand enterprise ICT services

The investment combines Conekt’s managed ICT services and enterprise relationships with ASI’s connectivity capabilities, capital resources and Level 1 B-BBEE status.
ASI Connect will provide enterprise customers with a range of managed technology services covering infrastructure and servers, corporate and hybrid cloud, connectivity, workplace support, hardware supply and cybersecurity.
The combined offering includes 24/7 security monitoring and response, with ASI Connect also providing managed security, service desk and cloud operations under an ISO 27001-certified framework.
Single provider for managed ICT services
ASI says the combination is intended to give clients a single accountable provider across their technology environments, reducing the need to manage multiple ICT suppliers.
Conekt brings more than 30 years of enterprise managed services experience to the combined business, including capabilities in managed services, business continuity, cloud and infrastructure.
The group also operates a 24/7 security operations centre.
ASI's investment provides the business with additional capital and access to its broader market and transformation platform, according to the companies.
Nicholas Govender, executive: partner relations at ASI, said the partnership combines technical experience with ASI's resources and transformation credentials.
Focus on governance and compliance
The companies are positioning governance and compliance as a central part of the combined ICT offering, particularly for organisations managing requirements such as the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
ASI Connect says its security, service desk and cloud operations are governed through a unified framework, with audit-ready reporting intended to help regulated organisations demonstrate operational control.
The investment also gives clients access to ASI's Level 1 B-BBEE procurement credentials across the combined ICT offering.
For existing Conekt clients, the companies say there will be no immediate changes to teams, contacts or service commitments following the investment.
The businesses say the combination will instead provide access to broader capabilities and resources as ASI Connect expands its offering.
