Whining and wining

Well, it's that time of the month again... That time to go rushing off to your local petrol station to fill up your tank before midnight tomorrow. But I don't have the energy to whine about the latest fuel price hike, so let's move on to the other kind of wine...

Today, Jason Frichol gives us some advice on how best to optimise selection and navigation in order to assist winers (like himself) explore the wonderful (but daunting) world of wine. Doug Mayne also tells us to 'get real' - what shoppers want is an authentic experience.

KPMG tells us that Africa's growing middle class consumer market offers countless business opportunities, while Jessica Taylor finds out from Zando's Zakirah Rabaney that 'local is the new luxury'.

In business acquisitions this week, Famous Brands ventured into the frozen yoghurt market, Delta Property Fund is looking to buy Tembisa Mega Mart, Astral announced its purchase of poultry and abbatoir assets through liquidation auctions and a number of JD Group shareholders have agreed to Steinhoff's buyout offer.

Have a wine-filled* week...!

*This is not for persons under the age of 18. Please drink responsibly.
