Retail

Rights, success and... sunshine

Image courtesy of samarttiw / FreeDigitalPhotos.net.
As online shopping in South Africa gains momentum, with more and more people avoiding queues and heading to their computers for a little late night shopping, are we as vendors and consumers aware of our obligations and rights? It's not as though we can walk back into the store if something doesn't fit or our new gadget breaks... Or can we?

Staying online, Kalahari.com has a new general manager; and this week's Biz Takeouts Podcast is all about online education and audience data.

In acquisitions this week, Famous Brands buys a majority stake in The Bread Basket, Distell acquires the Scots' Burn Stewart Distillers, while Zeder purchases Total Produce's share in Capespan.

Ever consider running a franchise? Greg Nathan looks at what it is that makes franchising a success.

Ann Nurock discusses trust in business in a two-part series... Something the retail industry is still contemplating with the mislabelling of meat products.

If we had a product of the week award, this week's winner would definitely be the Solaris Solar Table, which will charge the battery of your cellphone or tablet while you eat! My only question now is, where can I get one?

Have a sunny one!

Shan Radcliffe, Group Head - Retail
