I'm eager to learn with strong interpersonal skills especially with clients. I believe I possess a set of unique skills and experience where I'm able to strategically evaluate and grow long term sustainable relationships with businesses. I believe in my ability to perform well when challenged to think out-of-the-box and deliver on company, client and personal expectations.
Hi,
My name is Jonty from the Mother city of Cape Town.
I live in a country where the economy is stagnant, with one status above recession. I hear many promises made about giving youth an opportunity, yet many remain unemployed. We have an emerging educated and talented youth turned away because they do meet work criteria and experience (after graduating) or fall short on certain criteria. Then there are also those of us who find working for a company where little growth is offered for development in their desired career path and have to work overtime to further their education, at exorbitant costs.
Added to this, you work in a highly competing environment in an established 20- year old online-marketing firm pushing your creative boundaries, consistently remaining one of the top performers in your role.
Some may argue this makes a perfect working environment. But, what about the former student who once had aspirations of adding value to a cause they believe they can add strategic value to the triple- bottom line while feeling good about what he did for a living?
The difference is.... It takes one person to make the time to read what is on every youth's mind today, but to afraid to say it in an application because it could cost them a potential opportunity to further develop their skills and knowledge. A CV can give you an idea of what a potential candidate could offer your company. Instead, someone preferred to offer an honest conversation, typed out on a black and grey PC, that would have taken place if you stopped him in the street or you met by chance after church or at the gym.
However, I find myself in your pile of strong candidate files. I'm hard working and highly motivated when consistently challenged by new endeavors. I have always been a fast learner and highly adaptable to any environment. I started working since I was 16 in high school. While others where having fun over weekends I was spending mine working at my car wash business I opened up in my neighbourhood.
The truth is, these are all words right? What does his CV say? So, while scrutinizing and clutching your hand reading and re-reading thinking and asking yourself: Does he meet the requirements? Does he have what it takes? Or, am I willing to take a chance with this aspiring youth and start empowering the youth of tomorrow?
I will never know, and nor should you feel obligated to give an opportunity should I not meet the requirements. As for me, I'm a humble, employed youth eager to do something that adds value to a business, but, more importantly, to learn and collaborate with others in achieving strategic goals.
Thanks for your consideration...
