• Ensuring smooth and efficient maintenance operation
• Leading investigations to failures and identify root causes to prevent failure reoccurrence
• Creating detailed job cards to ensure efficient plant operation.
• Identifying possible improvements in the process by modifying or replacing plant equipment and bring it to the attention of management
• Informing plant management of all situations or conditions that could result in downtime and to take necessary remedial action to minimise downtime as a result thereof.
• Playing an active role in plant improvement projects by laying out, and specifying technical devices, parts, equipment and drafting.
• Providing documentation, detailed instructions, drawings, or specifications to tell others about how devices, parts, equipment, or structures are to be fabricated, constructed, assembled, modified, maintained or used.
• Handling contractors, service providers for work done on plant machinery
• Ensuring they are given proper specifications and that they deliver quality work first time.
• Maintaining high standard of discipline and adherence to company procedures and required safety standards
• Ensuring that both he and his subordinates obey safety regulations and observe safety precautions as laid down in the Machinery and Occupational Safety Act
• Performing other tasks as specified by the Mechanical Engineer
• Maintaining an accurate level of critical spares and consumables
• Obtaining quotes for spares & Equipment needed.
