    Leading Nigerian sports management company wins major sports contract

    Leading Nigerian sports management and sponsorship agency, Deportivo Vandyke International limited has won the sports management account of the Nokia “Defend Your Street” (NDYS) project.

    Lagos - Vandykesport is the industry leader in specialized corporate and brand-focused street and community or grassroots sports and entertainment projects .The company has in the past organised award-winning sports competitions including the Nigeria LNG Bonny League for many years, the Shell Community Kit Project, the Dresser-Kellog Associated Gas Project Community Football League and the Adidas Streetball Challenge.

    It also organised and managed it's own Vandyke Cup in Ajah, Lekki Expressway Lagos, where the company's own Deportivo Vandyke International Football Club has started a community soccer project.

    Vandyke is also technical partner to the Addax Petroleum Community Service Rugby Project and has worked in the past with Korean Firm Daewoo, TSKJ, Shell, Techint Cimimontubi of Italy, Chicago Bridge (CB&I) from the USA and the French oil services company Prezioso.

    In the case of the NDYS project, the aim is to set up a community project that will uplift and enhance the lives of Nigeria's youth.

    “When we were invited for the pitch, there was no doubt in our minds that this was the kind of project we enjoy. We are passionate about the NDYS because future heroes will definitely emerge but most of all, friends will be made,” said a company spokesperson.

    On the company's other big project, CEO Emeka Enyadike also promised to revive the street basketball project by working with its partners from the United States of America, he reiterated that the company has been involved with soccer teams in the Niger Delta.

    The company is poised to bring its tremendous experience to bear on the project. An elated Enyadike summed up the company's excitement at the launch on Monday night where Nokia unveiled their Defend Your Street tournament…

    “We are very excited about the opportunity to work with a world-class company of Nokia's pedigree, and note with joy, the tremendous experience and insights we have gained in the last six months. Those insights began right at the very start – from when we first made the pitch, right through to planning the events, and to the project's unveiling today…We always enjoy working in the streets and in the community, and this is like homecoming for us,” he added.

    Enyadike said his company is committed to ensuring that the tournament is a huge success and called on other brands to look beneath the radar and try to connect with the people, stressing regular contact with the SBA and especially the CEO Jerrod Mustaf

    “We will announce the new sponsor of the all-new Street basketball project and also unveil the new sponsor of the Premier Basketball League and other properties of the Nigeria Basketball Federation with whom we have enjoyed so much success with the successful multi-million naira sponsorship of telecommunications company VMobile (now Celtel) and Nike's Local Partner, Smart Mark Limited,' he said.
