Boschendal Wine Estate to host 2020 Cape Wine Auction
The Cape Wine Auction unites the wine industry around a single goal of raising money for education. Presented by Nedbank Private Wealth, the auction has raised over R86m, with all proceeds going to carefully selected beneficiaries who make an impact on the lives of children in the Cape Winelands.
"Our involvement in the Cape Wine Auction through our philanthropy office continues to help us in having a positive impact on South African communities and it forms a key part of our full spectrum of expert international wealth management services," says Richard Mulholland, coastal region head at Nedbank Private Wealth.
In a departure from previous years, the Friday evening auction will no longer revolve around the blind bidding of rare and unique wines but will, for the first time, include 15 once-in-a-lifetime weekend winemaker/owner experiences with some of South Africa’s top wineries on offer to the highest bidders.
"We are excited to be able to offer such a wide range of exceptional lots this year and we are confident that bidding will - as in previous years - be fierce but friendly," says Darielle Robertson, auction director.
"Ultimately though, we look forward to raising a great deal of money through the generosity of the bidders, with 100% of their contributions going towards helping change the lives of needy children. As Nelson Mandela said: Education is the most powerful weapon which can be used to change the world.
